The Colonnade

General Manager:
James Lane

Wow Factors:

• A Great location - set in one of London’s most exclusive residential areas, between Regent’s Park and Hyde Park, just a short distance from the Heathrow Express and Paddington Station, and with the shops and market of Portobello Road on the doorstep

• A Victorian home, restored and reinvented for today’s guest – set in two restored Victorian townhouses with 43 individually designed guestrooms together with a beautiful drawing room with an open fireplace, the hotel offers a quiet, luxurious charm

• The E bar –The Colonnade’s relaxed and intimate bar and lounge offering cocktails, wine and tapas. The bar, which is set on the lower ground floor of the hotel, opens onto its own outdoor terrace.

• The lift – one of London’s oldest – has its very own bench. Unusually shaped, the lift was designed to take the stretchers and trolleys up to the operating theatre when the hotel functioned as a woman’s hospital

Location:
Situated in the prestigious oasis of central London’s “Little Venice,” this smart, sophisticated residential area is within minutes of the Heathrow Express at Paddington Station and is convenient for London’s many sights, restaurants and business areas.

History:
This beautiful Victorian building was originally built as two private homes in 1865. In 1886, the building was converted to a hospital called Warrington Lodge. One of the many original features remaining from this era is the unusually shaped lift, which was used to carry stretchers and trolleys up to the operating theatre.

Alan Turing, the brilliant mathematician responsible for breaking the Enigma code during World War II was born here in 1912. An English Heritage plaque
commemorating Turing proudly hangs in the entrance. Sigmund Freud, the world famous psychoanalyst, stayed during the summer of 1938, whilst refurbishing his new home in Hampstead.

Accommodation Style:
This boutique style, luxury Town House boasts 43 individually designed and decorated guestrooms, many with terraces and four poster beds. Sumptuous fabrics and lavish antiques have been carefully selected to create a unique style and ambience in each room.

Hotel Facilities:
E Bar – perfect for cocktails, wine and tapas
