Location:
Situated in the heart of London’s famous Garden Square district of Bloomsbury, The Academy, The Bloomsbury Town House is just a few minutes walk away from the West End, Oxford Street and Covent Garden. Bloomsbury is home to the British Museum, London University College and a varied selection of galleries and antiquarian bookshops. During the early part of the 20th Century Bloomsbury was home to the famous “Bloomsbury Group” which included the writer Virginia Wolf, the painter Duncan Bell and the famous economist Maynard Keynes.
History:
These beautiful, historic, Georgian buildings were originally built as five private homes in 1776. Over the last 200 years, each house has evolved its own character and atmosphere and now offers guests a unique Town House experience.
Accommodation Style:
This charming boutique style, luxury Town House boasts 49 individually designed and decorated guestrooms and suites. Many rooms retain original Georgian features and have been stunningly decorated in a traditional “London Town House” style. All rooms are discreetly equipped for the business traveller and feature every comfort of a luxury hotel. The Academy boasts some unique suites featuring split level bathrooms with free standing claw foot baths and an unusual Garden Suite with the benefit of a private courtyard garden.
Meeting Facilities:
The Boardroom is a popular venue for smaller meetings of up to 14 delegates. Benefiting from plenty of natural daylight, this formally laid elegant boardroom leads onto the Conservatory Lounge and Gardens which are a popular setting for Summer cocktail receptions and small wedding parties. For slightly larger events, The Alchemy seats up to 30 theatre style or 24 classroom style.
